History and The
Boom
Playa del Carmen, Mexico
|
|
Fifteen years ago Playa del Carmen was a quaint fishermen's village
whose only asset was the ferry dock needed to cross to the highly
popular tourist destination of Cozumel. However, it wasn't long before
investors with a keen eye for business saw the potential in Playa
del Carmen's white sand beaches nestled between a virgin, lush green
jungle and the turquoise clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Soon enough, people started moving into Playa
del Carmen looking for a good opportunity to invest or an escape
from a stressful life, or simply seeking adventure and a close encounter
with nature.
|
 |
 |
During Playa del Carmen's beginnings, most of the town was a
vast jungle meeting with the ocean, with no services and a few dirt
roads. Only those with a eye for the future were able to see beyond
that rustic surface and ventured into investing in Playa del Carmen.
For five years, Playa del Carmen kept growing at a steady pace,
services were slowly installed throughout the town, a few streets
were paved, and still Playa del Carmen looked like no more than a
small town with a few hotels and restaurants. But around that fifth
year, Playa began to pick up a momentum that would prove to be a decisive
point in its growth.
|
|
Suddenly, Playa del Carmen was "discovered" in the tourist world,
and people from various different countries started pouring in to
get a taste of the small town with the beautiful beaches that was
becoming so popular. And the investors were following close behind.
All of a sudden, everybody wanted to get a piece of this paradise
for their own. Sellers and buyers were in a frenzy, and inevitably,
prices started to climb at breakneck speed.
As of recently, prices seem to have reached
a momentary stop in Playa del Carmen seemingly unstoppable ascent.
And each season, more tourists come to visit Playa del Carmen for
the first time, and still more come back for a second or third vacation
in the Riviera Maya, others simply stay and never leave Mexico.
|
 |
 |
So yes, Playa del Carmen is still the hot tourist spot in the
Riviera Maya, and promises to continue unfurling its potentiality;
however, it's now become a place where only those with a considerable
capital are able to invest at all, and good opportunities are seldom
to come upon. So if you see one, don't hesitate and grab it!
If you have any questions,
we'll be happy to answer them for you.
